BMW Z4
As a proper sports car and a boulevard cruising cabriolet rolled into one, the Z4 is certainly a great summer vehicle. You can tackle those twisties all day with the folding metal roof up and then cruise home with the top down. There are several engine and transmission options available which allow you to have a gentle Z4 with a small turbo petrol engine or even a vicious turbocharged six-cylinder version with the superb ZF eight-speed gearbox.

Citroën DS3 Cabrio
They don’t come more stylish than this. The DS3 has always been a funky, youthful car and the CC version certainly adds to that appeal. Here we have a car designed to fit into the urban environment with a small, fuel efficient engine and a customisable interior and exterior. The fabric roof also adds a dimension to the driving experience, while the fact that the side pillars remain intact means that it’s still dynamic and fun to drive.

Fiat 500C
Now we have always been a fan of small Fiats here at Autodealer and the 500C is certainly no different. Its cute looks, efficient powertrains and retro interior with the added fabric top make this a proper fashion accessory. Its compact dimensions and chic exterior mean that it looks the part in any urban situation.

Jaguar F-Type
The new F-Type has been somewhat of a revelation for the British marque. To look at it is just simply stunning both inside and out and in terms of drive quality, it’s pure sports car. And then there’s the noise; whether you opt for the V6 or V8, doesn’t really matter as both sound fantastic. They are fast too, with a great gearbox, a responsive supercharged motor and great handling.

Mercedes-Benz SLK
No list of cabriolets would be complete without a Mercedes-Benz and the SLK certainly does the three-pointed star proud. The new model is much more fun to drive with improved dynamics, better engine and of course that gorgeous sports car styling expected of a convertible Merc.

Porsche Boxster
The 2013 South African Car of the Year winner certainly deserves a mention. The Boxster is an engineering masterpiece to drive and is a proper sports car with the ability to lose its head, quite literally. Its six-cylinder boxer motor emits a spine-tingling howl whiles its beautiful balance stands it in good stead through the bends. Add these attributes to a slick PDK or notchy six-speed manual gearbox and you have a proper driving machine that you can also pose in.
