MOTORING NEWS - Motorcycle racing legend Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) has added a unique record to his massive collection of motor sport accolades.
During the recent Spanish MotoGP at Jerez, Rossi reached a total Motorcycle Grand Prix racing distance of 40 075km, set up over 23 seasons and achieved since the 1996 Malaysian Grand Prix.
And, in case you are wondering what is special about the distance - it equals a lap of the world.
Rossi's incredible career spans a total of 369 Grands Prix, through the 250cc and 500cc World Championships on the way to MotoGP.
From those events, only completed race laps were counted. Rossi has put in 8 730 of them to reach the milestone on the completion of Lap 15 at Jerez. Along the way he also collected 115 victories, 64 pole positions and nine World Championships.
