According to response.jp, the Mirage, and Juke, will be underpinned by a variation of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s CMF architecture used by the Nissan Micra, forthcoming new Renault Clio and the rumoured replacement for the Mitsubishi Colt, and likely add the Cross suffix as with the Eclipse Cross.
The article however does not state whether the new Mirage would simply be a crossover inspired model along the lines of the Renault Sandero Stepway, but alleges that it will come powered by a 70kW 0.9-litre turbocharged three cylinder petrol engine likely derived from the Clio, a 1.5-litre turbodiesel and a full-electric motor.
Following on from the Eclipse, the Mirage will be the third model to go the SUV route after a report in April alleged that Mitsubishi is planning on bringing the Lancer moniker back, but as a SUV with styling inspiration expected to come from the controversial e-Evolution Concept shown in Tokyo last year.
