Although Australia’s caradvice.com.au reported in February last year that the Giulia coupe, to be called Sprint after the two-door variant of the Alfasud sold between 1976-1989, would bow at the Geneva Motor Show, the latest report from Autocar alleges that the coupe would instead revive the GTV moniker that last appeared in 2004.
According to the publication, the entry-level model will use the 206 kW 2.0-litre Veloce model as a base, but with the ERS added, power will rise to 254 kW. The biggest change though will be to the Quadrifoglio Verde which will produce 471 kW from its 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 as opposed to the regular model’s 375 kW.
Expected to rival the Audi RS5, BMW M4 CS and Mercedes-AMG C63 S, the article claims that the ERS will be a development of the system used in the LaFerrari and that it is was chosen for its performance credentials rather than efficiency.
No indication of a possible unveiling or further details are known at this stage.
