Whereas the first teaser released back in June showed the Arkana, its name derived from the Latin word “Arcanum” meaning “secret”, taking-on a look similar to the Alaskan pick-up, the latest snap shows it bearing a closer resemblance to the Megane and Talisman in the form of a full-length taillight strip and similar clusters, with the “Arkana” badge placed directly below the diamond logo.
Based on spy shots taken by motor1.com however, as well as a render by automotive artist Kleber Silva, the Arkana will feature a profile heavily derived from the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC, and ride on the same platform as the Kaptur, a Renault/Dacia Duster underpinned model sold in India and Russia styled to look like the Clio-based Captur.
Unlike its donor model though, the Arkana has been designated as a world model and in terms of power, will likely be the next model to make use of the new Daimler co-developed 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Mercedes-Benz A-class and the new Clio, as well as an assortment of existing diesel engines.
The Arkana will make its official debut at the Moscow International Motor Show on August 29st, with sales likely to commence at the end of the year or in 2019.
