Based on the latest images taken by motor1.com, the new A3 still resists the urge to let go of its black-and-white camouflage completely, with the test mule differing little from the prototype spotted back in August, sans the new alloy wheels and covered but easy to make out roof rails.
Despite keeping its looks still mostly hidden, the online publication alleges that the A3, which will initially be limited to the five-door Sportback with the sedan arriving later, will take styling hints from the new Q3 both inside and out, while the MQB platform it underpins will be longer and possibly wider to improve head and legroom.
Up front, the A3 will more than likely feature the same array of TFSI and TDI engines as the Golf, with a plug-in hybrid and possibly an EV arriving at a later stage. Already spotted also on two occasions, the S3 will take aim at the Mercedes-AMG A35 and incoming BMW M130i X Performance and while details are still unknown, set to produce more than the current model’s 228kW/400Nm thanks to the rumoured use of a mild-hybrid drivetrain that will feature in the Golf 8 GTI.
