According to indianautosblog.com, the Sedan, known as the Corolla Altis in that market and in a number of others throughout Asia, will have the same front-end design as the hatch, while the rear could very well be similar to that of the Japanese spec Corolla Axio that leaked back in April.
What is known though as the sedan will ride on the same TNGA platform as what was previously known as the Auris, and offer a choice of three engines; an 85kW turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol, a 90kW 1.8-litre hybrid and the 132kW 2.0-litre Dynamic Force hybrid.
Based on a prior report from Ireland, the Corolla will go on sale in that market with a normally aspirated 1.6-litre petrol, likely teamed with a five-speed manual as opposed to the 1.2’s six-speed and the hybrids employing Toyota’s new 10-step Direct Shift CVT.
Expect the sedan to go on sale next year, but as with previous generations, a number of differences will remain between models sold in Asia, Europe and North America, with models for the latter market slated to debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit come January.
