The latest model after the Triton, Eclipse Cross, Asian-only Xpander and soon the Pajero Sport, the model known in Japan as the RVR or Outlander Sport in North America not only receives the red three diamond’s new corporate identity, but also novel combination LED taillights, a redesigned skidplate and three new colours; Oak Brown, Sunshine Orange and Red Diamond.
In-line with the changes being classified as a facelift rather than being an entirely new model, the ASX’s interior is kept unchanged apart from the infotainment system, which grows by an inch to eight-inches incorporating a TomTom satellite navigation system on top-spec trim levels.
For Europe, the ASX will carry over the existing 2.0-litre petrol engine set to produce 110kW/197Nm, with drive going to the front or all four wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox or an optional CVT. No further technical details were revealed.
With the Eclipse Cross confirmed to make its overdue local debut in just over two weeks’ time, expect the tweaked ASX to arrive during the second quarter.
