Models
The entry in to the range would have to be the S500 Coupé with 335kW/700Nm from its V8 motor. The top-of-the range S 65 AMG Coupé is a monster with 463kW/1000Nm with a fuel consumption figure of 11.9 litres/100 km and a 0-100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds. Next in line is the S63 AMG with 430kW/900Nm on tap that used a claimed 10.1 litres/100 km and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds
That exterior
There’s no denying that the S-Class Coupé is a gorgeous car with its long bonnet, curvaceous lines, low greenhouse and high beltline with massive 19 and 20-inch wheels.
It’s a big car with a wheelbase of 2.9 meters, an overall length of over 5.0 meters, a width of 1.9 meters and a low-slung height of 1.4 meters. This means that it strikes a stunning silhouette.
Other details such as the semi-circular eye-browed full-LED Intelligent Light System with 47 Swarovski crystals as well as a panoramic roof extending over two-thirds of the vehicles roof which rounds off the stunning visual feast.
Inside counts
Much as with the saloon, the coupé versions interior is stunning, with a wide-screen TFT, lashings of leather, brushed metal switches and air vents and touchpad to control the infotainment system.
Head-up display
The new model comes as standard with head-up display which provides information such as vehicle speed, speed limits, navigation instructions and driving assistance system messages.
Exhaust flaps
To ensure that the car is refined when cruising and muscle car loud when stamping on it, engineers have placed flaps in the vehicles exhaust. With the flaps open the car produces a deeper sound from the twin-pipe exhaust system and with the flaps closed it wafts along in a silent manner.
