Mirroring the changes applied to the US spec CX-3 shown at the New York Auto Show back in March, sans the orange indicators and side repeaters, the Japanese variant’s main drawing is the new 1.8-litre SkyActiv-D motor that replaces the previous 1.5-litre mill.
Connected to either a six-speed manual gearbox or six-speed automatic, the unit produces 85kW/270Nm, a jump of eight kilowatts and 20Nm, with buyers having the choice of having the grunt rooted to the front or all four wheels. No performance or consumption figures were revealed.
Although the updated CX-3 will likely touch down later this year, don’t expect the diesel and all-wheel drive system to form part of the local line-up anytime soon.
