Rather oddly revealed at the New York Fashion Week, and sporting off-road accessories such as a nudge bar, spotlights, snorkel, ladder, roof rails, skidplates, leather bonnet straps, a rather ungainly fitted rear spare wheel and 20-inch off-road focused alloys, the Telluride takes inspiration form the similarly named concept shown in 2016, but with a more rounded frontal appearance that mirrors that of the Cadillac Escalade.
Leaked on a Saudi Arabian Instagram page days before its reveal in the Big Apple, the Telluride will slot-in above the Sorento, and although technical details are still unknown, it could very well use the same 213kW 3.3-litre V6 mated to an eight-speed automatic, though reports are that a V8 could be added like the Palisade.
Production of the Telluride will take place alongside the Optima and Sorento at Kia’s West Point Plant in the state of Georgia from next year, but like the Palisade, it is not expected to be made in right-hand drive anytime soon as it is focused specifically on the North American market.
