According to a report by US publication Motor Trend, the next Outlander will lead the charge by being based on the same underpinnings as the Nissan X-Trail, in addition to being longer and wider to better distinguish itself from the Eclipse Cross and ASX. The latter model, known as the RVR in Japan and Outlander Sport in the US, will arrive one year later and share a platform with the next Nissan Juke and Kicks.
As reported last year, Mitsubishi will re-enter the lucrative B-segment using either the Mirage name or possibly reviving the Colt nomenclature with the Nissan Micra and next-generation Renault Clio serving as a base, while a replacement for the terminally aged Pajero could come in the next Patrol, although this is just speculative.
The biggest talking point though is the introduction of a new pick-up truck, which could see the next generation Triton and possibly the Fiat Fullback sharing its underpinnings with the Nissan Navara, which additionally provides the base for the Renault Alaskan and Mercedes-Benz X-class.
