As with its Thai cousin, the Dakar gets the same front clip derived from North American market Tacoma, consisting of a black hexagonal grille, C-shaped fog lights, reshaped front bumper, new headlights with integrated daytime running LEDs, Dakar decals and a choice of four new colours; Chromium Silver, Glacier, Graphite Grey Metallica and Inferno Metallic. For now, only the Dakar will feature the new front end.
Inside, the Dakar’s are restricted to gloss black inserts and partial leather upholstery, although the infotainment system now gets satellite navigation as standard. Standard equipment is carried over from the Raider model though. Motivation is kept as is with the 2.8 GD-6 engine producing 130kW/420Nm (450Nm when paired to the six-speed automatic gearbox) and the 4.0-litre V6 176kW/376Nm.
