KNYSNA MOTORING NEWS - With two days of racing having come and gone, the third and final day of the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb is set to provide an entertaining finish to the weekend.
The first day of the King of the Hill competition commenced yesterday morning at 09:00 with slippery and wet conditions. The morning sessions were marred with persistent light rain.
There were two crashes in Practice 4, with Wessel Maritz going over the edge in his Volkswagen Golf 7R and Charl Joubert flipping his Lotus Elise. Both drivers walked away from the crashes and were treated by paramedics.
The moisture in the air definitely didn't help drivers, but they were still able to clock some fast times in Qualifying Round 2, the final racing session of the day.
Classic Car Friday runner-up Andre Bezuidenhout was in the lead at the end of Qualifying Round 2 having clocked a time of 38,180 seconds, with Classic Car Friday winner Franco Scribante right behind him with a time of 38,551.
Racing will commence at 09:00 today, with a morning warm-up session before Qualifying Rounds 3 and 4 begin.
If all goes to plan, and there aren't any delays, Class Finals should begin at 14:00.
