The new S 1000 XR is as its makers say, an “adventure sport” bike with touring qualities, sporty performance and high levels of comfort, as well as everyday usability.
Powering the all-rounder is the familiar straight-four-cylinder engine with 118kW/112Nm at the rider’s disposal. There are also two riding modes namely, Rain and Road as well as ASC and Motorrad ABS as standard.
The new model uses an aluminium-alloy perimeter frame while the chassis geometry has been recalibrated to cater to the specific requirements of the XR.
The new BMW S 1000 XR combines qualities seen in the BMW GS, Touring and Sport models to create an “adventure sport” bike with 20-30mm increase in spring travel and greater ground clearance.
The S 1000 XR will be available in South Africa in June 2015.
