Rumoured to rival the likes of the Nissan Juke, Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-3, the UX is likely to slot in below the NX in the brand's model portfolio, and is widely speculated to make use of the same platform as the recently launched Toyota C-HR concept.
The single rear three quarter image points to a departure from the Japanese brand's current design language, in favour of more striking yet swoopy appearance with concept also dropping the traditional side mirrors for what appears to be a set of cameras.
Although little else is known at this stage, US media report suggest Lexus has already filled trademarks for the names UX200, UX250 and UX250h, stipulating the use of the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine used in the NX, IS and RC, the normally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder from the ES, and the 2.5-litre hybrid unit also from the NX.
