According to Auto Express, the images were snapped by a motorist near Aston’s headquarters in Gaydon, and shows the blacked-out Volante sporting a folding fabric roof and devoid of any badging. Besides the roof, the Volante will remain unchanged from the coupe with power coming from an AMG sourced 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 that produces 533kW/900Nm.
Mated to a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic gearbox, the Volante will reportedly weigh between 100-120kg more than the coupe to compensate for the removal of the roof, meaning a slightly slower 0-100km/h time of 3.7 seconds. Expect the Volante’s top speed to be lowered from the coupe’s 339km/h to avoid damaging the roof when at speed.
Sales of the Volante is expected to start in 2019, although it could make its official debut before the end of the year.
