GEORGE NEWS - A Zimbabwean woman (33) was arrested for possession of cocaine with a street value of nearly R1-million.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, vigilant K-9 police members arrested the suspected drug pedlar on Tuesday 20 November after pulling over a truck on the N1 between Beaufort-West and Cape Town.
"A search led to the discovery of about 2,07kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of approximately R830 800. The drugs were found in the possession of the suspect who is believed to be a hitchhiker. The consignment was seized and the suspect was arrested on the spot," he said.
Police management in the Western Cape commended the members involved in the bust and reiterated their commitment to increase patrols on the main entrance routes to curb the distribution of drugs and other illicit goods.
