Update
WILDERNESS NEWS - For Kathy Whitehead, journalist from Wilderness, the nightmare is over. She is back in South Africa after being stranded in Kabul, Afghanistan, since March.
She and her brother, Allan Whitehead, returned to South Africa on a special repatriation flight that landed on Tuesday afternoon at Oliver Thambo Airport in Gauteng. Allan (66) was visiting her in Kabul when the world shut down. He is a diabetic.
The duo have to stay in quarantine in Johannesburg for two weeks before she can come home to Wilderness. Their mother Mavis, is a resident at the Tuiniqua care centre in George.
"It has been a nightmare these past few months. I am really, really happy to be home," she told George Herald on Wednesday.
