GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - The first Wilderness Cars and Coffee event for 2024 was held on the Wilderness common on Saturday 13 January.
The highlight of the morning was the arrival of Knysna based pilot Duran de Villiers, in his Bell 204 Huey helicopter.
The Cars and Coffee days are held twice a year in Wilderness and Plettenberg Bay, and regularly in Knysna, and they have become very popular on the calendars of car lovers throughout the Garden Route.
De Villiers touched down at 09:30, and the Huey was the central attraction for the crowd, some of whom were delighted to meet de Villiers and learn more about the history of his Huey.
This particular aircraft was involved in Vietnam in 1964, where is accumulated most of it's 5 800 hours serving in the Vietnam war. The large crowd enjoyed the cars on display, and numerous coffee venues in the Wilderness village.
Most of the spectators stayed until 11:30, to watch the Huey depart for Knysna.
