GEORGE NEWS - All wildfires have been contained. The weather prediction in George and surrounds, from today until Saturday, at an average of 15°c, will minimise the risk of any flare-ups.
According to Acting Fire Chief, Deon Stoffels, “wildfires at Ruitersbos and Herbertsdale are also extinguished”.
A few areas will continue to be monitored while stumps are smouldering, until the wildfires are declared dead.
These include Hansmoeskraal/Pacaltsdorp and Kraaibosch/Groenkloof.

Stoffels says it takes 24 - 48-hours of monitoring, depending on size and area, after firefighting operations ceased to officially declare a wildfire as dead.
