GEORGE NEWS - A 30-year-old man was arrested on Monday 18 September for the assault on a doctor at the Pacaltsdorp Clinic last Friday.
Dr Jane Prinsloo was stabbed in the face with a trowel while treating the suspect, a patient allegedly suffering from a mental disorder.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene she was lying on a bed in a consultation room with serious injuries to her face.
She was transported to the Mediclinic George where she is still recovering in ICU.
According to Captain Malcolm Pojie, Southern Cape police spokesperson, Prinsloo is out of danger.
The suspect will appear in the George Magistrate’s Court on charges of assault later today, 20 September.
It is not certain how the trowel ended up in the clinic.
Though security at the clinic has since been increased, the community is still not happy about the incident or the current safety precautions at the clinic.
