GEORGE NEWS - The George police has confirmed that a culpable homicide docket has been opened for further investigation following the motorcycle accident early this morning (Saturday 28 may) at about 02:30 in Courtenay Street.
"Peliminary investigation reveals that when police arrived on the scene, they discovered that the motorcycle had collided with a car from behind," said Capt Malcolm Pojie, Southern Cape police spokesperson.
"The motorcycle rider died on scene on impact. He was later identified as a 24-year-old man from George. An autopsy will be done during the week to determine the possible cause of death."
Pojie did not want to release the name of the deceased before it has been ascertained that the family had been informed.
Pojie said the 24-year-old driver of the car was arrested for drunken driving for which a separate docket was opened. He was later released on a warning to appear in court on a later date.
