GEORGE NEWS - The family of Akhona Mlinganiso, the deceased man from Thembalehtu whose body was found floating in a river, has been been found.
Mlinganiso was found in a river in Zone 6 between Thembalethu and Pacaltsdorp on 11 November 2021.
His body was already decomposed and could not be identified when it was found and an inquest docket was opened for further investigation.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, the forensic laboratory identified the body through fingerprints.
The Thembalethu detectives expressed their gratitude towards the media and community who rapidly responded to the call to find his relatives.
“Based on the media report, the family came to the fore yesterday, Thursday 7 April, and liaised with the investigation officer who will now finalise the investigation into the inquest that was opened,” said Pojie.
