GEORGE NEWS - All U3A meetings this month will take place in the Moths Shellhole in Rijk Tulbach Street. Attendees are reminded to wear a face mask and sanitise their hands before entering the hall and to keep their masks on during the lecture.
In the Friday Lecture on 17 September, Hugo Leggatt will deliver a lecture on ancient rock art in South Africa.
In a sense, rock art could be viewed as the world's first world-wide web as examples can be found on all the continents except Antarctica. Leggatt will concentrate on the relatively little known rock art found in the Southern Cape between the Swartberg and the coast.
He has spent many years exploring the local rock paintings and he is a member of both the Mountain Club of South Africa and the Outeniqua Historical Society.
There will be tea at 10:00 and the lecture will start at 10:30.
On Monday 27 September, Case Rijsdijk will continue his discussions on International Affairs. This event will be at 14:00.
At the general meeting on Wednesday 29 September, Dr Joan Louwrens will present "A wilder life - journey of an adventuring doctor". This intrepid doctor has travelled over all the continents, including the Antarctic, in the course of her lifetime.
The story of her travels promises to be fascinating and leave you gasping at her exploits. So come along to the meeting, enjoy a cup of tea at 10:00, and the lecture at 10:30 sharp.
