GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - A 19-year-old man from George was arrested after he was positively linked to the theft of a firearm and ammunition that was stolen from a house in Mossel Bay last year.
This arrest follows the arrest of a man (27) from Mossel Bay on Tuesday 13 February, when Mossel Bay detectives clamped down on a house in Robin Street, D’Almeida.
“After interrogation, the occupant produced a firearm. He was unable to account for his possession thereof. The members seized the 9mm pistol and several rounds of ammunition. They arrested the suspect on a charge of the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition,” said Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies.
After further investigation police discovered that these items were stolen during an incident at a house in the vicinity last year, which led to the arrest of the 19-year-old in George.
Both suspects remain in police custody and were expected to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court today (15 February).
