GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - The case against the Touwsranten couple accused of animal cruelty was postponed in the George court this morning to 4 April for a trial date.
Tosca, the couple's Labrador, had to be put down in February 2016 after she was left chained to her kennel in full sun without water or food for weeks on end.
She was covered in maggots when Garden Route SPCA inspectors found het.
State prosecutor Samantha Hendricks indicated today that the police investigation into the matter has been completed.
Both Quinton van Rooyen and Jakoba van Rooyen pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Several animal lovers held a peaceful protest outside the court building this morning.
