Local community development workers from the Department of Local Government organised the gathering.
In addition to the mine worker strike, the social challenges of Thembalethu, including crime, rape, drug abuse in schools and the high unemployment rate, were also on their prayer list.
Memela Noyakaza-Xesi, on behalf of the community development workers, thanked everyone who attended the session.
The Department of Correctional Services and Thembalethu Primary Choir sang at the event and all the churches of Thembalethu and NGOs were represented.
