GEORGE NEWS - Continuing with ‘Astronomy for the Curious’ series of lectures, Case Rijsdijk will present 'Cosmic rulers'. Not the Darth Vader type!
How do we know how far away the stars, nebula and galaxies are?
There is a simple 'trip' one can make and take an odometer reading. In this session he will be looking at how astronomers measure the distance to the stars and galaxies using a variety of different tools and methods.
The lecture is on Friday 6 April at Emmaüs in Memoriam Street, starting at 10:30.
All visitors are welcome.
