GEORGE NEWS - Arms of Love held a braai for the community of Mingo Camp in Pacaltsdorp on Saturday 26 March to celebrate the opening of a new facility for Millicent and Wayne Adonis. The couple have been running an outreach ministry and soup kitchen for children here for the past two years.
Arms of Love, a registered Section 18A charity organisation operating in the George area, built the facility for this ministry.
"Arms of Love has as its priority the feeding and educating of children," said Michael Lindt, one of George's much-loved local artists who is also a director of Arms of Love.
"Our heartbeat is to support the existing informal settlement feeding schemes by building a fully equipped kitchen from where meals can be prepared and to ensure that there is a regular supply of produce." He provided the music at Saturday's celebration.
Arms of Love's first completed kitchen was for Gustav Appels of the Bread of Life soup kitchen in Borcherds.
With Michael Lindt (centre) from Arts of Love are, from left: Mikyle, Cyle, Millicent, Wayne, Marilize, Stacy, Jemillia and Shakira.
In some instances, as is the case with the Adonis couple, an additional venue was constructed that serves as an after-school / homework facility and community centre. They hope to employ the services of tutors in the future to assist learners with their homework and projects.
"We at Arms of Love are privileged to have met Millicent and Wayne and are looking forward to supporting them in the future as they continue their journey," said Lindt.

George singer and a director of Arms of Love, Michael Lindt, provided music at the braai.
The children enjoyed a lovely day with activities and entertainment on the programme planned especially for them.
