GEORGE NEWS - The George Municipality has addressed the issue of water that has been stinking up the lives of residents living on the corner of Tabata and 26th streets in Thembalethu.
Residents in this area have been complaining for a long time that the smelly problem, the source of which they couldn't determine, was not attended to.
They claimed their children were badly affected and were becoming sick.
On Wednesday morning, Municipal Spokesperson Chantel Edward-Klose said that the problem had been caused by a leaking valve, which was repaired on Wednesday morning.
"The smell was linked to water that had been standing. There is still further repair work to be done which will be addressed," said Edwards-Klose.
No complaints relating to this matter at Tabata Street were found on the municipality's complaints log.
