NATIONAL NEWS - The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has revised the payment dates for the November 2026 social grant payment cycle in view of the upcoming Local Government elections on 4 November.
According to a Sassa statement dated 14 October, National Treasury approved a revised payment schedule following extensive consultations between Sassa and various stakeholders.
The revised payment dates will ensure that social grant payments continue to be administered with minimal disruption during the election period.
Social grants will be paid as follows:
- Older Persons Grant: Friday 30 October 2026
- Disability Grant: Monday 2 November 2026
- Children's Grants: Tuesday 3 November 2026
Sassa emphasised that beneficiaries whose grants are under review should respond to official communication from the agency and attend review appointments when requested.
“The fourth-day payment on 5 November 2026 is specifically intended for beneficiaries whose grants fall within the review process,” said Sassa.
The agency urged beneficiaries not to rush to Sassa offices unnecessarily, as grant payments will be processed according to the announced schedule.
Beneficiaries should continue to use Sassa’s official communication channels for accurate information and guard against misinformation and disinformation regarding social grants.
