GEORGE NEWS - Zone 8 Ward Councillor Bulelwa Plata is appealing to the entire community of Thembalethu and the surrounding areas to assist four families from Zone 8 near All Bricks, who were left homeless after their shacks burned to ashes on Tuesday afternoon.

The cause of the fire is unknown. 

No one was injured during the incident. However, the families lost everything they own, including furniture and clothes.

Plata said the families desperately need help and any donations at this time will be welcomed.

"I have approached the George Municipality to assist the families in building them new shacks and the municipality is looking at this matter. We also approach departments such as Social Development and see how they can assist. One of the houses was home to children who are still at school and I assume that all their study material and school uniforms have also burned," said Plata.
