GEORGE NEWS - A group of 60 mostly ANC Thembalethu residents took part in a service delivery march on Wednesday 10 October, to hand over a list of grievances against corruption, fraud and a lack of service delivery that is affecting the community.
One of the organisers, Petrus Mapapa, said the marchers would also go to the ANC office in Hibernia Street to demand the removal of the councillor for Ward 21, Ntombi James. At the start of the march outside Truns Loxion Lounge he said that they were planning to send a copy of the memorandum with their grievances to the National Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr Zweli Mkhize.
He said this time they are taking the protest to the next level as they do not get satisfactory answers locally.
ANC Regional Secretary Major Sokopo said yesterday that the marchers wanted to hand over a memorandum to the ANC acting provincial chairman or another provincial official.
He was attending to matters in Knysna on Wednesday and as far as he knows, no memorandum was handed over at the George ANC office.
They took the protest to the next level as they do not get satisfactory answers locally.
