GEORGE NEWS - Art lovers should make their way to the George Museum where the Sanlam Portrait Award 2017 Top 40 exhibition is still on until 15 September 2018. The biannual competition showcases some of the best portraitures in two dimensions in South Africa.
Local artists said it is a thought-provoking and stimulating exhibition and definitely worth a trip to the museum.
The winning portrait Genna and Felix, a double portrait in oil by Kate Arthur, earned the artist a R100 000 cash prize. The tour, supported by Sanlam Private Wealth, is organised by the Sanlam Art Collection and George is the last stop.
The exhibition will only be on view in the Charles Sayers Gallery in the George Museum.
Opening times are Mondays to Fridays, 08:00 to 16:30 and Saturdays 09:00 to 12:30.
