George Civil Engineering head, Harold Basson, says because of the drought they are ahead of schedule as rain did not hinder construction. The road was open for the holiday season and should be completed by April. Guest houses and restaurants in the area took a huge financial knock since building operations started a year ago.
The project was born from a need to create a decent sewage network, but resulted in the road being completely rebuilt. A proper storm water system and side walks are also under construction.
In George the circle at the intersection of Langenhoven and Witfontein Roads will be completed by April. The circle was opened for traffic early in December but will close middle January to complete the access roads.
