GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - A protest march from Thembalethu to the George Municipality, Magistrate's Court and Department of Education is taking place this morning.
According to journalist, Myron Rabinowitz, Thembalethu commuters are walking to work as there are no taxis available.
There is a heavy police presence at the entrance to Thembalethu.
Commuters say they were not intimidated as they passed the crowd of protesters at the four-way stop street in Thembalethu.
Various schools in town will close earlier today as a result of the protest action. The protest march, about service delivery, will impact the entire GO GEORGE bus service and most routes.
The bus service will be operational, keeping to the normal schedules as far as possible, but delays must be expected on all routes for the duration of the march. Motorists are urged to drive carefully. More information to follow as it becomes available.
