GEORGE NEWS - George Airport spokesperson, Senzeni Ndebele, expressed the condolences of airport management and staff to the family of the man who died on the N2 this morning.
Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) confirmed that the bus that hit the man at approximately 06:00 this morning on the N2 near the Pacaltsdorp bridge was transporting staff to the airport.
The man, believed to be from Syferfontein, was declared dead on the scene.
“The bus, operated by an independent contractor, collided with the pedestrian who was crossing the road. Details of the precise circumstances of the accident are not known at this stage,” Ndebele said in a statement this morning.
Police are investigating the accident.
None of the staff members were injured during the accident, but according to Ndebele, airport management has arranged for the staff to undergo counselling.
