GARDEN ROUTE DISTRICT NEWS - “Towards Modernised Silviculture” is the focus of a free webinar presented by the George Campus Forestry Department of Nelson Mandela University on 21 October from 9:45 to 13:30.
Some interesting presentations are lined up for the webinar on the challenges of transitioning silviculture operations from traditional manual systems to fully mechanised operations.
A perspective on the Brazilian approach will be given by Prof Saulo Guerra.
The fourth industrial revolution is upon many industries and the forestry industry is no exception. Various forestry stakeholders are having to think about new and modern ways to improve productivity, safety and quality while protecting the environment and meeting various social economic needs. In this webinar the focus is on some of the latest silviculture technologies, challenges to modernisation, opportunities in modernising forest regeneration and stand tending activities.
