GEORGE NEWS - A mother (44) from Thembalethu and her son (25) are scheduled to appear in the George Magistrate's Court tomorrow, Tuesday 31 August, in connection with the brutal murder of the 40-year-old Bonga Menzi from Zone 5 in Phelandaba, Thembalethu.
The duo were arrested shortly after the incident on Saturday evening, 28 August.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, witnesses to the horrific attack called the Thembalethu police at approximately 20:00 and members were immediately dispatched to the residence in Zone 5 where the incident happened.
On arrival police were met by a horrendous scene. The deceased had extensive injuries to his head.
"Members also found bricks, a dustbin, wood pieces and a wheel spanner on the scene that were confiscated as evidence," said Pojie.
"It is alleged that the suspects and deceased had an argument whereafter the mentioned items were used to fatally assault the deceased. Upon arrival, members found the deceased who had already succumbed to multiple injuries, with his head smashed. The witnesses then identified and pointed out the two suspects to members, who effected their arrests."
