MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Steven Montgomery (50), a well-known Mossel Bay dog behaviourist, made a brief appearance at the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court this morning, 6 March, on a charge of contravening a harassment order.
It is understood that Montgomery was arrested at his home in Boland Park yesterday, 5 March.
There was a harassment protection order granted against Montgomery in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court earlier this week, however, the application was held in camera, which means the Mossel Bay Advertiser was unable to attend and report on what was presented in the courtroom.
Montgomery's advocate was not present during his appearance, and the matter was remanded to 11 March for a formal bail application and so Montgomery could speak with his advocate.
The court heard that the state intends to oppose Montgomery's bail application as it believes he will not adhere to court orders should he be released and will undermine the proper functioning of the criminal justice system.
He will remain behind bars until his next court appearance.
