GEORGE NEWS & VIDEO - The Minister of Transport, Blade Nzimande is currently doing a walkabout in George to get first hand experience of the public transport situation in town.
The Minister visited Thembalethu this morning where his convoy was met by a huge traffic congestion which is what the locals have been complaining about for years.
He also visited the taxi ranks both in Thembalethu and in the CBD and also the George Transport Hub. The Minister was received by the leaders of the local taxi industry and the George Community Forum ( GCF).
Nzimande reiterated that the roll-out of Phase 4B must be suspended. He said that from what he has seen, the infrastructure is not ready.
He is also expected to meet with MEC of Transport, Donald Grant at the George Municipality in York Street this morning.
