GEORGE NEWS - The South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) in the Southern Cape Region extended a helping hand to the victims of a devastating fire that wreaked havoc in Zone 8, Thembalethu earlier this month.
These dedicated volunteers had tirelessly canvassed from door to door and reached out to various stores and shops across George in search of donations.
The heartfelt response came in the wake of a destructive fire that engulfed 23 homes on the evening of 6 September.
Boxer store at Thembalethu Square and Kekkel n Kraai donated food to the families. The two Boxer store managers, Masonwabe Ngqulana (branch manager) and Simphiwe Hlatshway (trainee manager) were present during the hand-over of the food to the needy families.
Sanco's chairperson in the region, Bulelwa Plata, thanked Boxer and Kekkel n Kraai for responding to the community's plea during these trying times and expressed the hope that other local businesses would follow suit and provide assistance to the victims in any way possible.
