GEORGE NEWS - Twenty three informal houses in Zone 8, Thembalethu burned to the ground and five structures were damaged in a fire that ravaged the area yesterday evening, Wednesday 6 September. 

The people who had been left homeless were accommodated by Shuta Kelemi of Juventer's Pub in Zone 8, who not only opened his large home for them to sleep over, but also stepped in to ensure that the victims receive food. 

A group of municipal officials, led by George Mayor Leon van Wyk, visited the area this morning to take stock of the situation and asses the stricken residents' needs.
