GEORGE NEWS - The Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) has launched a national partnership with the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) that will support the association with an R800 000 donation, plus a pool of volunteers to assist Cansa in each of the nine towns that has an Acsa airport.
The donation follows the successful collaboration between the George Cansa Relay for Life (RFL) and Acsa George. Lorraine Verhagen, chairperson of Cansa RFL George, said she is pleased that the George event was the forerunner to the donation.
Head of sustainability at Cansa, Maria Scholtz, and George Airports manager, Brenda Vorster, signed the document at the George Airport on Thursday 29 November. Senior manager of corporate affairs responsible for regional airports at Acsa, Senzeni Ndebele, said that this signing of an agreement is in line with the Acsa annual socio-economic initiative, which supports enterprise development and social upliftment projects in South Africa, contributing to the broader society in which the company operates.
"This new national partner-ship includes an employee volunteer programme that will encourage and empower the company's employees to give their time to cancer support organisations, whilst also supporting employees who have cancer through an employee wellness programme," said Ndebele.
