GEORGE NEWS - Jonathan Radford, an internationally acclaimed classical saxophonist recognised for his virtuosity, will perform for the George Music Society on Sunday 25 August at 15:30 at the Dotsure Insurance George Arts Theatre.
The programme includes works by Tomaso Vitali, Dani Howard, Darius Milhaud, Claude Devussy, Paule Maurice and Pablo de Sarasate.
He will be accompanied by the accomplished young pianist Cezarre Strydom, currently head of music at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch.
Radford is regarded as a leading classical saxophonist in his generation. Passionate about showcasing the saxophone's versatility across the classical and contemporary repertoire, he delights his audiences with characteristically energetic and expressive performances.
In demand internationally as a concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician, Radford has performed in prestigious festivals and concert halls in cities across the world.
He is an international prize-winner with many notable awards such as Commonwealth Musician of the Year and SaxOpen International Competition.
Alongside championing existing repertoire for the saxophone, Jonathan also develops new music for this instrument.
