GEORGE NEWS - South Africa's Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, the Hawks, is investigating an armed robbery that took place at Total Sandkraal in Nelson Mandela Boulevard on Monday morning, 26 April.
According to a spokesperson for the Hawks, Zinzi Hani, the incident occurred at approximately 07:20 when Fidelity ADT security guards were accosted by two armed suspects while they were picking up money from the Bonjour shop on the premises.
"The suspects threatened the guards and took an undisclosed amount of money after which they fled on foot and disappeared into the nearby residential area.
"No arrests have been made and the Hawks are currently following up on all possible leads," Hani said.
No injuries were reported.
At the time of going to print no comment had been received from Fidelity ADT, however, head of marketing and communications, Charnel Hattingh, indicated that comment would follow soon.
