GEORGE NEWS - The Golden Valley housing project in Blanco is making headway after it recommenced on 7 October last year. This project currently comprises the building of 136 top structures (actual houses) to qualifying beneficiaries.
According to Director of Human Settlements Charles Lubbe, all the beneficiaries have been identified and the subsidies have been approved by the Provincial Department of Human Settlements.
The contractor, Marnol, has been appointed by the Provincial Department of Human Settlements to complete the project.
It is envisaged that the project may be completed on 15 November.
Currently 70 foundations have been cast, with 36 houses that are at roof height.
The contractor has indicated that the first batch of houses could be handed over by the end of March.
Some of the Golden Valley housing project houses are nearly finished and will soon be handed over to beneficiaries.
