GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - Catan is one of the most popular board games in the world, and there are more people in George who love the game than you would think!
The George Gaming Group, proudly sponsored by Eden Toys, recently made waves at the qualifiers for the Catan national finals.
Eight of the 15 competitors from George rank in the top 40 in the country, and a total of nine members of the George Gaming Group received invitations to the finals taking place on Saturday 9 November at The Warren in Somerset West.
The list of nine who qualified are Ian Morey, Michelle Henderson, Theuns Eloff, Charles Neser, Milicia Pretorius, Lialma Sinclair, Robert Lamastra, Karien Vrey and Nicolaas Steenekamp.
Ian Morey's exceptional results earned him a complimentary flight to Cape Town for the event this weekend.
The stakes at the finals are high, as the national champion will not only earn the title of South African champion but also secure a spot in the prestigious world finals in Germany, with flight and accommodation paid for.
"The dedication and skill displayed by our members reflect the spirit of the George Gaming Group, and we are proud to support them as they strive for excellence," commented Rebecca Tschohl, an avid gamer and representative of the George Gaming Group. "We look forward to cheering on our finalists and celebrating their achievements in the competition!"
