GEORGE NEWS - The Game stores in George and Knysna reopened their doors less than a week after closing when an employee tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday 20 May.
The employee, who works at the Knysna branch, had recently visited the George branch.
Following deep cleaning and sanitising procedures, as well as inspections by the Department of Health last week, they reopened just in time for the weekend on Friday 22 May.
Although the exact date of the Knysna employee's visit to George could not be confirmed, Game's corporate reputation manager, Michelle Kemp, assured George Herald that all necessary precautions were taken in order for the stores to safely open their doors.
According to her the staff member was never inside the store, had no contact with any customers and minimal contact with fellow staff members.
"Currently the stores are open and there are no other confirmed cases.
"Game will continue to monitor the health of our team members and continuously implement new practices and measures to ensure the safety of all staff and customers. We assure you that health and safety in our stores remain a top priority for us.
"As the staff member in question from the Knysna store was undergoing training in the week leading up to their diagnosis, their contact with other staff was minimal," she said. The sign on the George Game store on Wednesday morning, 20 May, informing patrons of their closure. Photo: Kristy Kolberg
